Flower power
What’s spring time without those pretty buds, petals and blooms? It’s time for flower power to take over this season. From the spring-summer fashion runways to the streets, everyone’s going floral. Here’s how I’d wear my own hot picks from Splash:

I passed by this dress three or four times before finally picking it up, it was literally calling my name. It’s perfect for a colorfully chic brunch, worn with a white bow belt, sandals and handbag.

For a more laid-back look, I picked a pair of floral, breezy palazzo pants to go with a vest and oversized bag. I love the delicate floral print necklace as well — very poolside chic!

I simply love this off-white floral dress for its delicate detailing and simplicity. Worn with a pair of high heels, chain-link clutch and an oversized finger ring, it’s the perfect day dress for summer.
As always, I’ll be back soon with more tips and trends. In the meantime, you can get more insights into what’s happening with the local fashion scene by visiting us at www.fashionablyours.net.

It’s time to point the style camera at another member of the Splash team to get the story behind what they’re wearing. In the frame is Steven Scorer, merchandising maestro turned part-time model, with our beloved fashion brand.
Name : Steven Scorer
Occupation : Visual Merchandising Manager at Splash
What does your job involve?
As the Visual merchandising (VM) Manager for Splash, it is my job to take care of the look, feel and function of the Splash outlets. Everything you see in the store is VM apart from the clothes and I work in collaboration with our retail, projects and marketing teams to ensure the shop floor is aesthetically pleasing and commercially functional for our customers.
Describe your look?
I've never really thought of having a distinct "look", but maybe I do. I imagine that my friends would call my style something like "geeky” and “English", especially my Landmark friends.
Why this outfit?
The VM team and I recently launched our new brand ELLE at Splash; I really liked the collection so picked up a few pieces. It's the first time ELLE has been available at Splash so I thought it would be a good idea to conduct some research and see how it looks — the Chinos are stylish, comfortable and they contrast works well with the pink floral print polo shirt.
Where would you wear it?
I could probably get away with wearing this with a jacket in the office. Alternatively, it can be modified for a more casual look by rolling up the chinos and slipping on some flip-flops. I would feel comfortable heading out to a music event or going for a lunch or a dinner.
Who would this style suit?
Well, besides trendy VM managers (lol) I suppose it would suit most people. It's just a matter of adding your own personality to it so it becomes part of you. For example, for me it's my glasses or perhaps my bag that makes this look right for me.
Favourite feature?
The cotton on this polo has been "mercerized", which produces a softer fabric than regular cotton. In short, this treatment makes the top really comfortable and gives it a nice sheen, which makes it look and feel a bit special.

How-to guide to wearing bright blazers
Blazing a colourful trail this season are bright, summer blazers. Spring Summer 2012 is all about neons, hot pinks and tangerines, even on classic blazers. With the color blocking hangover from last season, it’s going to be one hell of a riot! So here’s a quick how-to guide to wearing your brights right.
Yes, you can OD on colour!
It’s time to break the rules and have some summer fun with colour blocking. Team a hot pink blazer with a bright and striking colour like green, orange or red, for example. Throw on a pair of skinny jeans in a neutral colour (White is an eternal summer favourite) and a pair of white shoes. The idea is to make a statement with the blazer in stark contrast to the rest of the outfit.
Pick accessories that complement both of the color blocked elements. For him, a hot pink blazer and a green vest both look fantastic with gold, so pick a metallic gold necklace for the outfit. Lastly, throw on a pair of classic vintage-inspired sunnies for a chic day at the office.
Alternatively, if you’re looking to catch a lazy lunch with friends or spend the day at university, you can dress down this look by pairing your bright blazer with a plain, striped or printed T-shirt and a pair of denims. And remember, Bold is beautiful!

We’ve all said it, or at least thought it, when someone pulls-off a look that definitely displays the wow factor. Rather than walk up to complete strangers on the street and ask them where they shop, we thought it a smarter move to point the camera at our own fashion team and put one of them in the frame.

Describe your look? It’s basically an off-white summery jump suit - which makes for big news this season – designed with an interesting and colourful tropical bird print. Bright pink shoes and pink clutch complement the outfit, which is offset with a green & gold chunky bangle.
Why this outfit? This slinky jumpsuit makes me feel confident. It looks good and suits my slim body type. It’s a young fun outfit with bright colourful prints.
Where would you wear it? It’s quite a versatile outfit, so you can wear it to the mall with ballet pumps or with heels for a brunch with the girls. I would be equally comfortable wearing it to work with a smart jacket or loading the accessories on for an evening out.
Who would this style suit? Jumpsuits suit everyone! You just have to find the one that’s right for your individual body shape. This one’s a slim-fit garment with a central frill that serves to accentuate the hips, so it might not be for everyone.
Favourite feature? I have two actually. I think the off-the-shoulder aspect is cool, and I really like the waist frill, it’s an interesting detail that makes the jumpsuit stand out.
Where from? Splash of course! It’s a summer piece that’s in hot demand. It’s generally available at Splash stores across the UAE (it’s advisable to check the availability in some other regions).

Spring/Summer ‘12 Trend Alert: Blogger’s Pick
Graphic, paisley or floral-prints were all over the Spring/Summer runway and are making their way into our closets this season.
Pick a 70’s style silhouette with graphic prints for a lazy Saturday brunch, or throw on a sleek blazer over it to make a fashion statement at the office. I love how the bright yellow sling bag adds a colour pop to the outfit - simply perfect for summer!

The India-inspired paisley print is oh so in this season! The likes of D&G, Emilio Pucci and Cavalli will vouch for that. I’m loving these slouchy, jodhpur-style pants in a pretty paisley print. Bring out the hippie in you this summer with round shaped, John Lennon-esque sunglasses, chunky jewellery and vibrant clutches.

With spring just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to give your wardrobe a bit of attention. Luckily we’re on hand to offer some inspiration for the coming season’s look and feel.
Our Splash store at the Mall of the Emirates recently unveiled the Spring/Summer collection for 2012, giving fashion fans a sneak preview of what will be hitting the shops later this year.

For woman, our new collection adds a splash of colour to your wardrobe – it’s all about being bold, beautiful and daring. Tropical prints were a big hit at the collection launch, with printed tops emphasising associations with bright, beautiful weather – including palm trees and juicy peaches. Other fruits to make it out of the fruit basket and onto these fun printed tops include bananas, strawberries, oranges, lemons and cherries, each combined with a 50’s-inspired polka-dot pattern – the ideal way to add a playful touch to any weekend outfit.

The big look for men is Romantic Nautical - a theme that plays on fun-filled days spent at the seaside or a leisurely stroll along the Riviera. The nautical style is all about looking crisp, classy and elegant - think of being on the deck of an exclusive cruise ship, or lounging by the bar at the yacht club, and you’re right on-track. It’s a look that shouts refined luxury and effortless style.
The showcase offered fashion conscious Splash fans a glimpse of the coming key trends, but keep an eye out in-store and online to see all of the latest fashions for the new season.
